some people just wanna get used items. they are cheaper.
also, smart bidders would never keep bidding and make the price grow. they would wait until the closing time is about to end then place the final bid. so obviously, many bidders are the actually the seller himself or seller’s friends. so be smart, when you see someone has a higher bid than yours, dont just place a higher bid right away. just wait.
