A lot more than anyone is telling you. Even if you are creating a scaled down version of ebay you need to build a ton of code to do anything like what they are doing. Developers will constantly tell you that it will only take a few hours and a few hundred dollars and then you run into something called feature creep when you tell them you want it to do more than you originally had planned. Your customers are going to demand that you have these features.
How are you going to differentiate from ebay and don’t say price. Ebay will kill you on price with their discounting methods all day long.
